On March 24, 2016, a violent dispute outside the Fifth Avenue Apartments in Taunton, Massachusetts, ended with 23-year-old Gordon Weeks shot multiple times. Weeks, a Black / African American man and father of two daughters, A’Nyla and Cienna, was struck by four bullets — one in the chest, one in the buttocks, and two in his back — after a man named Miguel Marrero fired six shots. Friends drove the critically wounded Weeks to Morton Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Law enforcement located and arrested Miguel Marrero in Roxbury the next day; he was charged in connection with the killing. A jury later convicted Marrero of second-degree murder, carrying an illegal firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition, and a judge sentenced him to life with the possibility of parole after 20 years. Weeks is remembered as a devoted father, son, and brother.
If anyone knew Gordon, his family, or witnessed the shooting or events leading up to it, please share what can help bring more clarity to this case.
