On the night of July 4, 2015, a shooting in a vacant lot on Linden Street in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, left 25-year-old Ronald Pinel fatally wounded. Pinel, a Black/African American man, was taken to Berkshire Medical Center and pronounced dead; an autopsy ruled a gunshot wound to the chest the cause of death. Four other people were injured in the same incident.
The Linden Street shooting followed a nearby drive-by on Robbins Avenue that wounded three people, and investigators treated the two events as possibly connected. Police recovered two handguns at the Linden Street lot along with multiple items of ballistic and other forensic evidence, consistent with a chaotic scene and multiple shooters. More than 50 people were interviewed during the joint Pittsfield Police and Massachusetts State Police probe, but significant witness noncooperation has hampered the investigation. No arrests have been announced and no suspect identities have been released.
Does anyone who was in Pittsfield that July 4 or who knew Ronald have information that could help the investigation?
