On Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015, Luis Guillermo Burgos, a 30-year-old Hispanic man, was shot and killed after a heated dispute in Holyoke, Massachusetts. He was taken to a nearby hospital in a private vehicle and pronounced dead on arrival. Authorities opened an investigation into the shooting as the community sought answers.
Investigators identified 27-year-old acquaintance Alejandro Rosario as the person who fired the gun during the confrontation. Witnesses said the two had been engaged in a fierce argument that escalated to the shooting; Rosario’s attorney later claimed Rosario felt afraid and believed Burgos was about to open fire. In August 2017 Rosario pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced for Burgos’s killing.
If anyone saw the events that day or has information about the dispute between Burgos and Rosario, please share what is known.
