A Brockton apartment became the scene of a homicide investigation after Daniel Esdale, 25, was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head. Emergency responders answered a 911 call just before 10 a.m. on October 12, 2014, and investigators determined the shooting had likely occurred three days earlier, on the afternoon of October 9, 2014, based on a voicemail left by the victim. Two friends discovered his body inside a third-floor unit at 223/225 Belmont St., also known as 75 Brett St.
The Plymouth County District Attorney’s office and Brockton police led the probe. Attention centered on people known to Esdale; Antonio Pinto, who lived below the victim, and Pinto’s cousin, Brandon Wangnoon, were both questioned and later charged in connection with the murder. Pinto was later acquitted of the murder charge. Wangnoon was indicted, but a Superior Court judge suppressed his statements to police made on October 13 and October 20, 2014, along with data taken from his cell phone.
Are there details about Daniel’s last days or the apartment building that anyone with information can add?
