Quentin Phillips, 28, was shot and killed in the early morning hours of August 9, 2014, in the parking lot behind Joe Angelo’s Bar on Crescent Street in Brockton, Massachusetts. Phillips, a Mattapan resident and patron at the bar that evening, became involved in a verbal altercation inside the establishment with Jerome Morris that continued after closing and moved outside to the parking lot.
Morris walked to the vehicle and fired two rounds through the passenger side window, striking Phillips in the chest. Friends transported Phillips to Brockton Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Investigators focused on Jerome Morris, and an arrest warrant led to his apprehension on October 31, 2014; Michael Townsend was also arrested for providing the weapon. Townsend later pleaded guilty to manslaughter and received a ten to twelve year state prison sentence; a jury convicted Morris of murder and illegal firearm charges and he was sentenced to life without parole.
Did anyone who knew Quentin or was at Joe Angelo’s that night see what happened in the parking lot or remember the confrontation inside the bar?
