Darnell O. Harrison was 26 when he was shot and killed on January 5, 2010, in Brockton, Massachusetts. He was struck four times behind a local establishment known as The Lit Bar. Harrison was a father of five children.
Investigators identified a suspect named Kyle Bryant; the District Attorney described the shooting as an attack of revenge rather than a random act. In October 2013 a jury found Bryant guilty of Murder in the First Degree and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, after a two-week trial and about two hours of deliberation; Bryant received life in state prison without the possibility of parole, plus a concurrent sentence for the firearm conviction. The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court later reviewed the case.
