Scott McKean, 41, was found dead from a gunshot wound to the chest at the edge of a parking lot behind a laundromat on North Kerry Street in Brockton, Massachusetts, on a cold December morning in 2004. Neighbors reportedly heard gunshots the night before, but police were not called until McKean’s body was discovered. His family remembers him as a kind soul who had struggled with alcohol and substance abuse in the years before his death after a decade of sobriety.
The case went cold for more than a decade, but in 2016 new information produced a lead pointing to a potential suspect with connections to city officials in Brockton. Because of those ties, the investigation was transferred from the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office. The person of interest has faced criminal charges previously but has no adult convictions.
Does anyone have information about Scott’s last known movements, or recall unusual activity near the laundromat on North Kerry Street that December night?
