Anthony Weeks was 16 when he was killed on July 5, 2002, in Brockton, Massachusetts. The fatal shooting followed a day of gang-related violence that began with a fight at the Brockton Fair; Weeks was present at the fight but not involved. Later that evening he was walking on Belmont Street with others and crouched behind a parked car to seek safety.

A neighbor saw 17-year-old George Vicente climb onto a car, position himself for a clear shot and fire downward, hitting Weeks. Investigators linked Vicente to the scene: his finger and palm prints matched prints on a rear car window where the shooter had leaned, shoe prints on a car hood matched the shoes Vicente wore when arrested, and the bullet trajectory matched the witness description. During parole hearings Vicente acknowledged gang membership and said he had been jumped earlier that day and sought retaliation, intending to shoot at rival gang members; he fired and killed Weeks as Weeks tried to flee. A jury convicted Vicente of second-degree murder on March 14, 2006, and he was sentenced to life with the possibility of parole.
