On November 8, 2020, deputies in Tijeras, New Mexico, responded to a welfare check at a home off Apple Ranch Road and found 75-year-old Chris Neel dead inside her residence from a gunshot wound to the head. Investigators soon focused on a family member who lived in the same house. The person identified was Neel’s older brother, 76-year-old Lee Jensen, who admitted to shooting his sister and said their relationship had been highly contentious, without providing further specifics about what led to the shooting. Jensen was arrested and charged with murder and held in custody pending trial.

Anyone who knew Chris Neel or the household on Apple Ranch Road, or who has information about the relationship between Neel and Jensen, is asked to come forward.
