Matthew Gurule, a 32-year-old Marine veteran from Belen, New Mexico, was last seen on July 27, 2019, at the Isleta Resort and Casino in Albuquerque. His disappearance prompted a search that ended when his body was found in a ditch; the circumstances led authorities to treat his death as a homicide and open a thorough investigation.

Investigators identified multiple people connected to a conspiracy that resulted in Gurule’s death. Francisco Gomez was arrested, charged with murder, and later sentenced to 32 years in prison. A woman who participated in the conspiracy pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, and received a sentence as part of the case.

The investigation and the resulting convictions brought legal resolution in the matter, but many details about what happened at the casino and how Gurule came to be killed remain central to the record. If anyone knew Gurule’s movements on July 27, 2019, or saw him at the Isleta Resort and Casino, please come forward with information.
