Cruz Martín Gallegos, 27, a lifelong resident of Las Vegas, New Mexico, was fatally shot inside a home on June 15, 2019. Investigators tied the killing to local gang activity, and witnesses and police identified Marcos Ruiz, a Westside Locos member with links to the Syndicato de Nuevo Mexico, as a key suspect. Witness statements say Ruiz accused Gallegos of setting him up with police shortly before the shooting; Gallegos denied the allegation and pointed to another individual, Gary Coca, as responsible for the alleged setup.
Marcos Ruiz was later arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with Gallegos’ death. The probe into Ruiz’s activities also implicated him in other violent incidents involving Westside Locos members, including the shooting of Gilbert Montoya and the death of Marcos Mark Carrillo, which witnesses say involved a confrontation at Ruiz’s home. Gary Coca was not charged in Gallegos’ murder but was taken into federal custody on separate drug and robbery charges.
Are there details anyone can add about Gallegos’ last known movements or about witnesses who were at the home on June 15, 2019?
