In the early morning of November 26, 2022, 23-year-old Eduardo Espinoza Bencomo Jr. was shot at the Copper Stone Apartments, 750 South Lafayette Drive, Lafayette, Colorado. Police found a man and a woman with gunshot wounds at about 3 a.m.; Eduardo died hours later and the female victim was taken to a hospital.

Investigators identified 24-year-old Anthony Yohari Lopez Olguin as the suspect. Authorities say the attack followed a domestic dispute and that Olguin, alleged to be the woman’s ex-boyfriend, broke into the apartment and opened fire after finding her with Eduardo. The female victim was reportedly on the phone with 911 when she was shot.

Olguin’s white 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe was recovered, but he was not located and was being sought as armed and dangerous. Later developments allege he was aided in leaving the United States; family members were arrested in August 2023 on charges of assisting his flight. Eduardo’s family and the community remain without resolution; anyone with information is asked to come forward.
