Jonas Najar Jr., a 41-year-old Hispanic man from Montrose, Colorado, died on Monday, September 5, 2022, from an act of gun violence. Born April 15, 1981, to Jonas and Carol Najar, he grew up in Olathe and worked as a welder and in hard rock mining before turning to farming and ranching. He was a father to six children: Jeremiah, Ariana, Moises, Joel, Emiliano, and Valeena, and was remembered by family and friends as generous and loyal who enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Police focused their investigation on a suspect and arrested Dustin Miller in connection with the Labor Day shooting that occurred east of Montrose, the first homicide in Montrose in three years. The case went to trial and a jury found Miller not guilty. No other suspects have been publicly identified or charged in connection with Najar’s death.
Does anyone have information about that area or saw anything unusual around Labor Day 2022 that could help the investigation?
