On a June night in 2022, 22-year-old Christian Glass of New Zealand heritage was parked on a remote road near Silver Plume, Colorado, when his car became stuck. He called 911 for help and told the dispatcher he had two small knives, a hammer and a rubber mallet he used for geology; he offered to throw the items out the window to show he was not a threat.
Officers from the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office and other local agencies spent more than an hour at the scene while Glass remained in his car in visible distress. Deputies broke a window to breach the vehicle, deployed bean bag rounds and a Taser, and at one point Glass held one of his knives. Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Buen fired multiple times; the autopsy found multiple gunshot wounds. The report noted THC and a prescription amphetamine in his system.
A grand jury later returned indictments related to the shooting. Does anyone have information about the night Glass called for help or witnessed the response along that stretch of road?
