Patrick Steven Murphy, 33, was found dead along the Little Dry Creek Plaza bike path in Englewood, Colorado, on the afternoon of February 11, 2017. A pedestrian discovered his body and the death was immediately investigated as a homicide. Investigators later determined Murphy had been shot multiple times and that his body had been placed at the location where he was found.

Englewood Police identified a suspect who was already in custody on unrelated charges. Mikhail Purpera, 29 at the time, was charged in connection with Murphy’s death; the charges included murder in the first degree, aggravated robbery, and possession of a weapon by a previous offender. Purpera also faced numerous other charges in the same case and was a suspect in two other, separate killings and an attempted murder listed in the investigation.
