Zachary Greenstreet was 28 when he was shot and killed at his Arvada, Colorado, home on the night of Friday, June 17, 2016. A graduate of Arvada High School who worked as an AV technician, he had spent part of the evening with his father and left around 10:30 p.m. Shortly afterward a neighbor reported hearing what sounded like a gunshot; deputies responding to a 911 call found Zachary in the driveway of his residence in the 5200 block of Union Court with a fatal gunshot wound.

Investigators identified 21-year-old Erik Jamal Newton, an acquaintance, as a suspect. A search warrant executed at Newton’s Denver residence on June 21 led to his arrest; he was booked on first-degree murder and evidence-tampering charges. Materials seized during the investigation were described as instrumental in identifying Newton.

Reports from the court record state Newton later said he had been experiencing hallucinations and believed harming Zachary or a family member would stop the voices. His 2018 conviction was overturned by the Colorado Court of Appeals in June 2022 on grounds that his confession had been obtained unconstitutionally and must be excluded from retrial.

Did anyone in Arvada know Zachary well or have information about the evening of June 17, 2016?
