Randy Jay Cook, 47, was shot and killed in Grand Junction, Colorado, on January 1, 2014. Deputies found Cook shortly after midnight in the Orchard Mesa area with a single gunshot wound to the chest; the Mesa County Coroner ruled his death a homicide. Cook was a local businessman and realtor, born and raised in Grand Junction, a father of three, and formerly a motocross racer.

Investigators say Cook was among a group that forcibly entered the home of Joe Hoskins. Hoskins shot Cook inside the residence. Video surveillance reportedly showed the unlawful entry. No arrest was made and the investigation was closed.
