Thomas Lynn Clements, 58, was killed on the evening of March 19, 2013, at his home in Monument, Colorado. A man posing as a pizza delivery driver knocked at the door; moments later Clements was shot in the chest and died at the scene. The attack targeted the head of the Colorado Department of Corrections in a quiet neighborhood and drew national attention.
Investigators quickly focused on Evan Spencer Ebel, 28, a recent parolee and member of the white supremacist 211 Crew. Two days earlier Ebel had murdered pizza delivery driver Nathan Leon and taken his uniform and pizza carrier. Ballistics linked the same gun to both Leon’s and Clements’ killings. Ebel was killed by Texas officers after a shootout and chase two days after Clements’ murder; items in his car tied him to both crimes. A woman, Stevie Vigil, later received a prison term for purchasing the gun for Ebel.
Authorities have debated whether Ebel acted alone; recorded calls and investigative attention on the 211 Crew raised suspicion of a wider conspiracy. No one else has been charged in Clements’ assassination. Does anyone have information about contacts or movements of the 211 Crew around March 2013 that could help clarify who else may have been involved?
