In the early morning of July 8, 1987, Wheat Ridge officers responded to a 911 call at the Vickers Gas Station/Convenience Store on West 44th Avenue and found night clerk Craig Lee Bishop, a 29-year-old White male, on the floor behind the counter near the cash register with a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was airlifted to Denver General Medical Center and was able to speak with officers before being taken into surgery, but he died on the operating table. Investigators determined money had been taken from the register, and the death was classified as a homicide.
No arrests or suspects have been publicly identified, and the case remains unsolved. Anyone with information about what happened that summer morning is asked to contact the Wheat Ridge Police Department.
