On January 21, 1982, the body of 25-year-old Jesse Lee Bennett was found in a snowbank in a field in Adams County. He had been shot; investigators classified his death as a homicide. Jesse was 5 feet 7 inches and 126 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. His birthday was January 31, 1957, meaning he was days away from turning 26 when he died.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office opened the case as Agency Case #82-552. Decades later the investigation remains unresolved: no suspects have been publicly named and no arrests have been announced. The motive and the circumstances leading to the shooting remain unknown.
