A 17-year-old identified as Mekhi Clark was killed in a February 6, 2021 shooting near East Webb Avenue and Davis Place in North Las Vegas. Responders took three people to University Medical Center that evening; Mekhi suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died a few hours later. The Clark County coroner ruled his death a homicide.

Police described the attack as not random: investigators said two men approached a group and opened fire. Surveillance footage was reported to show two men parking outside an apartment, running toward the group and firing. Authorities later arrested 24-year-old Dean Coleman on March 16, 2021, and 28-year-old John Caver on March 23, 2021; Caver was booked on murder, conspiracy to commit murder, two counts of attempted murder and battery with a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm. Reports indicated the shooting was gang-related.
