Dre’Vaughn Dixion was 22 when he was fatally shot during a confrontation in North Las Vegas on the night of Sunday, February 16, 2020. Police say Dixion had arranged to meet two men in a residential area near Carey Avenue and Civic Center Drive to buy marijuana. Detectives allege that Dixion took the marijuana and was chased by the two men; during that pursuit he was shot and later died of a gunshot wound to the chest, the Clark County coroner ruling his death a homicide.

Around 11:00 p.m. an unidentified man drove the wounded Dixion to North Vista Hospital, where officers already at the facility for an unrelated call were present when he arrived; Dixion was pronounced dead at the hospital. Investigators identified 18-year-old Rodrigo Chavez and 19-year-old Blake Whittington as suspects. Both were arrested — Chavez in North Las Vegas and Whittington in Henderson — and were booked into the Las Vegas City Jail facing charges of murder with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit murder.

Was anyone in the Carey Avenue and Civic Center Drive area that night able to see or hear anything that could shed light on the sequence of events?
