On the morning of January 8, 2020, 25-year-old Sidney De’Trae McKnight was found unconscious in the roadway on the 5600 block of Indian Springs near West Ann Road and Clayton Street in North Las Vegas. A 911 caller reported him passed out in the road; officers arriving around 5 a.m. first thought he might be intoxicated but then discovered he was bleeding from a gunshot wound. The Clark County coroner ruled the death a homicide from a gunshot to the head, and McKnight was pronounced dead at the scene.

McKnight, born September 28, 1994, was a North Las Vegas resident and Foothills High School graduate who had attended the College of Southern Nevada and worked as a warehouse associate at Amazon after jobs in restaurants and entertainment. Family described him as sweet, gentle, quiet, and strong, a man who enjoyed video games, YouTube, the gym, and time with loved ones; his obituary said he departed this life by force and was the victim of a heinous crime.

Homicide detectives investigated and sought witnesses, but no immediate suspects were identified and no arrests had been announced a year after the killing. Does anyone who lived in that neighborhood or knew Sidney have information that could help investigators?
