David Medina, 37, was shot and killed on August 25, 2016, on the 2600 block of Glory View Lane in North Las Vegas during what had been arranged as a small drug sale. Medina and his girlfriend parked in a driveway to complete the transaction; two females got into the back seat and, according to the girlfriend, an 18-year-old man later identified as Jeremiah Grant-June opened the passenger door and tried to take her purse. As Medina began to drive away a gunshot struck him in the head. The vehicle then collided with a parked car and Medina was taken to University Medical Center, where he died.
Investigators recovered a handgun, a hair pick and a cell phone at the scene. Forensic analysis linked Grant-June to the gun and hair pick through DNA, and the phone contained messages from the day before that included a plan to rob drug dealers. In September 2019 authorities arrested Jeremiah Grant-June and charged him with murder with a deadly weapon and two counts of attempted robbery with a deadly weapon; police identified him as the sole suspect.
