On the night of July 31, 2020, 58-year-old Patrick Edward Johnson of Salina was found shot to death in the basement of a Washington Street home in Osborne after a report of a shooting just after 10:30 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Law enforcement from the Osborne Police Department and Osborne County Sheriff’s Office called in the Kansas Bureau of Investigation; KBI special agents and the Crime Scene Response Team responded that night.
A family member at the home told investigators a physical altercation with Johnson took place shortly before the shooting. Despite that information, no arrests were made and no suspects were publicly named as the inquiry continued. Johnson was a U.S. Army veteran, a former long-haul truck driver and, most recently, a forklift operator in Salina, survived by his mother and siblings.
Does anyone have information about the events on Washington Street that night or knew Patrick and can help fill in what happened?
