Geremy Hoover, 24, was fatally shot during a robbery in Chicago’s Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on September 22, 2013, and died of his injuries on September 26 at Stroger Hospital.

Hoover was related to Larry Hoover but family members stressed he did not participate in gang activity. He volunteered with Ceasefire and helped with his mother Dinah Hoover’s transportation business serving disabled and elderly clients. Dinah and local activists publicly urged no retaliation and asked the community to cooperate with police to identify the shooter.
