On the evening of June 30, 2015, 19-year-old Trevon D. Anderson, a Black male from Kansas City, Kansas, was found with critical injuries in the street near 61st Terrace and Robinson Street in Overland Park. He was taken to a hospital and later died of his wounds. Police were called just before 10 p.m. after reports of an armed disturbance.
Officers also discovered the body of 18-year-old Velik L. Henderson inside a nearby home on West 61st Terrace. Investigators treated the incident as a double homicide and announced they believed the killings were not random, indicating a confrontation and some connection between the victims and their assailant.
Court documents later alleged that Marquise D. Stokes had aided and abetted Anderson in an attempted robbery of Henderson; during that encounter both Henderson and Anderson were shot and died of their injuries. Did anyone in the neighborhood witness activity near 61st Terrace and Robinson Street that night or know either victim?
