A confrontation in a downtown Lexington parking garage ended in the death of 36-year-old Michael Lynn Yocum on March 5, 2022. Police were called for shots fired at the Victorian Square garage on West Short Street at about 2:52 a.m.; Yocum was found with gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at 4:04 a.m. A second man, Anthony True, suffered serious injuries from a severe beating at the same scene.
Court documents and surveillance footage described a verbal comment by 23-year-old Juan Linares to the two men in True’s car that escalated into a physical fight. Footage showed True starting the physical altercation and Yocum joining shortly after. A detective testified at a preliminary hearing that Yocum was shot in the back, the bullet pierced his heart, and that Humberto Saucedo-Salgado, 25, and Oziel Saucedo-Salgado, 28, kicked True in the head while he was on the ground. Linares was charged with murder; the Saucedo-Salgado brothers were charged with first-degree assault. All three have pleaded not guilty. Linares was held on $750,000 bond; the brothers posted $10,000 bonds and were released. The case was to be presented to a grand jury.
