A dispute on Buckner Street in the east end of Maysville, Kentucky, on the afternoon of Friday, November 5, 2021, ended with 34-year-old Russell Chandler Jr. shot once in the arm; the bullet traveled into his abdomen and rendered him critically injured. He was taken to Meadowview Regional Medical Center and later airlifted to UC Hospital in Cincinnati, where he underwent several surgeries but died of his wounds on November 12, 2021.
Friends and family described Chandler as fun-loving and generous; a memorial service and dinner were held at Frontline Valley Church where the community observed a moment of silence. Maysville police identified 62-year-old Gregory Moore of Maysville as a suspect and arrested him on charges of attempted murder, tampering with physical evidence, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. Moore was held in the Mason County Detention Center on $100,000 bond and prosecutors indicated charges would be amended after Chandler’s death.
If anyone witnessed the Buckner Street argument on November 5 or has information about the shooting, please share what is known.
