Dominico Cloyd was 18 when he was shot in Lexington, Kentucky. The shooting occurred the afternoon of January 23, 2021, in the area of Idaho Avenue and North Upper Street. Police found him inside a vehicle with life-threatening gunshot wounds; he was taken to the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.

Cloyd survived for nearly a week but died on January 29, 2021, when the Fayette County Coroner pronounced him deceased. His death was the city’s second homicide that year and the first to involve a teenager. The Lexington Police Department canvassed the area and appealed for witnesses, but no suspects have been publicly identified or arrested and the investigation remains open.
