Larry Steven Rose Jr, 44, was shot and killed on March 6, 2020, in the 400 block of Smith Street in Lexington, Kentucky, near the Transylvania University campus. Police responded to reports of gunfire and found Rose with a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at 3:50 p.m. The Fayette County Coroner’s Office ruled his death a homicide from the shooting.

Authorities quickly identified a suspect and issued an arrest warrant for 32-year-old Seantel Wilone Watson. Watson turned himself in to the Lexington Police Department on March 13, 2020, was taken into custody and formally charged with murder. On February 14, 2022, Watson accepted a plea agreement that reduced the charge to manslaughter; on April 1, 2022, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison with credit for time served.
