On April 24, 2018, just before 11:00 a.m., 24-year-old Travis Edward Tipton was shot and killed at his home on Pryse Road in Irvine, Kentucky. The county coroner pronounced him dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound. Tipton had spent most of his life in Estill County and was a member of the South Irvine Christian Church.
Kentucky State Police say an argument between Travis and his older brother, 29-year-old Edward Daniel Tipton Jr., escalated and that Edward allegedly retrieved a firearm and fatally shot Travis. Edward was arrested, charged with murder, booked into the Three Forks Regional Detention Center, and on April 25 pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Estill District Court; a public defender was appointed and bail was set at $100,000 cash. The case was moved toward a preliminary hearing as the community grieved.
Does anyone have information about the family, the dispute, or the events that day that could help clarify what happened?
