Kenneth Alex Davis was 21 when he died from a single gunshot wound on September 3, 2017, in Bowling Green, Kentucky. A senior at Western Kentucky University studying toward medicine, he was active in student government and Sigma Chi and grew up in Corbin, where he graduated from Corbin High School in 2014 and played on the golf team.

The shooting occurred in the late hours about a mile from WKU’s campus during an alcohol-involved gathering. The shot that killed Davis was fired by his college roommate and friend, 22-year-old Peter Gall. Gall reported the shooting to police shortly after midnight; officers found Davis bleeding on the floor and he was taken to Bowling Green Memorial Hospital, where he died.

Gall was arrested and initially charged with second-degree manslaughter; his attorney said the death was a tragic accident during horseplay. He later pleaded guilty to an amended reckless homicide charge and received a four-year prison sentence in February 2019.
