On the evening of February 13, 2017, 15-year-old DeAryn Hamilton, a Black male, was shot on North Seminary Street in Princeton, Kentucky. Police arrived after a call around 8:11 PM and found Hamilton with a gunshot wound; he was taken to Caldwell Medical Center ER and pronounced deceased.
Police reports describe a robbery that preceded the shooting. Hamilton and another teenager, Cameron D. Malone, were said to have planned to rob DeShaun La’Keith Palmer. Malone reportedly showed a handgun and the pair took a large quantity of marijuana from Palmer. As Hamilton and Malone fled, Palmer allegedly drew a handgun and fired multiple rounds; one bullet struck Hamilton.
An arrest warrant was issued for DeShaun La’Keith Palmer as armed and dangerous; he was located and arrested in Madisonville on February 26, 2017, and later charged with murder. On April 3, 2019, Palmer pleaded guilty to an amended reckless homicide charge and to possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and was sentenced to a total of ten years, to be served consecutively.
Did anyone in Princeton at the time see or hear the events on North Seminary Street that night?
