On October 15, 2016, 24-year-old Tarone Kiaire Williams was shot in the early afternoon while in the parking lot of the Marathon service station at East 9th Street and Campbell Street in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. After being shot, Williams was able to get into his vehicle and drive west on East 9th Street but collided with another car about a block away. Hopkinsville police found him unresponsive at the crash scene, and the Christian County Deputy Coroner pronounced him dead; the gunshot wound and the subsequent crash were reported as the fatal events.
Investigators initially sought information from the public about the shooting. The following day authorities located and arrested 22-year-old Dorien E. Meullion in Clarksville, Tennessee; he was taken into custody by a multi‑agency task force and held in the Montgomery County Jail pending extradition to Kentucky on allegations related to Williams’s death.
If anyone has information about the shooting, the location at East 9th and Campbell, or the events that afternoon, please come forward.
