On Friday, October 7, 2016, two people were found dead from gunshot wounds at Double H Farms, a business just east of Carrollton in Carroll County, Kentucky. The victims were 47-year-old Andy Dale McKinney of Owenton and 45-year-old Kerry McKinney. The Kentucky State Police responded that afternoon and opened an investigation.

Authorities confirmed both deaths were from gunshot wounds but released few details about how events unfolded at the farm. No arrests had been announced and police said they were not actively searching for suspects and did not believe there was an ongoing threat to the community. Autopsies were scheduled to assist the investigation.
