Ryan Allan Birse was 22 and worked at a KFC/Taco Bell in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. He loved cars from childhood, trained as a mechanic at Nashville Auto Diesel College, enjoyed hockey and the Nashville Predators, and hoped to work on cars and become a farmer.
On February 25, 2016, a workplace dispute turned deadly. A few days earlier Birse had argued with co-worker Joshua Ratliff about sanitary food handling; Birse reportedly told Ratliff not to touch food after handling a dirty dishwasher and not to cough on the food. On the evening of the 25th Ratliff, who was not scheduled to work, entered the restaurant and shot Birse multiple times in the back while Birse was preparing chicken. Ratliff fled, was chased and apprehended, and later charged with murder.
Who among coworkers or customers that night might remember details about the argument or the shooter’s arrival?
