On the evening of January 23, 2016, 24-year-old Jeremiah Otaveous Washington was found in the driveway of a residence on Tipps Lane in Georgetown, Kentucky, with two gunshot wounds to the chest. Deputies from the Scott County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of gunfire at about 7:30 p.m.; Washington was taken to Georgetown Community Hospital and pronounced dead. An autopsy was scheduled at the state medical examiner’s office in Frankfort.
Witnesses at the scene described two tall men, between 6 feet 2 inches and 6 feet 4 inches, assaulting Washington before shooting him. One witness said one man had dreadlocks and the other wore a red sports jacket. The pair were last seen fleeing in a red four-door vehicle, possibly a Dodge or a Chrysler. Investigators believed Washington had been spending time in the Lexington area before his death.
The Georgetown Police Department treated the case as a targeted attack. If anyone saw activity on Tipps Lane that evening or has information about a red four-door vehicle matching that description, please come forward.
