In April 2015 friends grew concerned after Zachary Gilkison did not show up for a planned dinner and one friend, having seen a news report about an arrest, went to check on him. Police were led to Gilkison’s Main Street home in Elsmere, Kentucky, where his body was found in the basement. He had been shot multiple times from behind with a .45 caliber handgun.
Investigators identified 28-year-old Michael Wilcox, who had traveled from Ohio to Gilkison’s house on the day of the killing, as the primary suspect. Wilcox was connected to a violent spree that day that included the murder of his girlfriend, Courtney Fowler, in Ohio. Wilcox later pleaded guilty to Gilkison’s murder and to charges of robbery and tampering with physical evidence; he received a life sentence to be served after an 18-year Ohio term for Fowler’s murder. Reports said Wilcox at one point blamed rap lyrics and that drug abuse was considered a contributing factor, while no clear motive was established for why two people who reportedly cared for him were killed.
Does anyone have information about Gilkison’s last days or the people he spent time with before April 2015?
