Bo Dustin Dewayne Otis was 20 when he was killed in a home invasion in the small community of Clearfield, Kentucky. On June 22, 2014, five men forced their way into his residence intending to rob him; Otis was shot in the back of the head during the attack and was taken to the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, where he died on June 23, 2014.

The Kentucky State Police, the Morehead Police Department, and the Rowan County Sheriff’s Department investigated the case and identified five suspects. Investigators named Anthony T. Paysen as the man who fired the fatal shot; Julius Kolowitz, Jaque Abrams, Demario Powell, and Marcus Stewart were identified as his accomplices. All five were charged in connection with the robbery and murder that devastated Otis’s family and the Morehead community.
