On April 23, 1986, Theodore Sweet, 52, was among five people killed in a violent crime spree in Lexington, Kentucky that left multiple families devastated. Sweet and two other men were found in a field; they had been shot, stabbed, and run over, and the vehicle they were in had been set on fire. Two other victims were discovered earlier that day — one in a shopping center parking lot and a second in an alley — each reportedly shot, stabbed, and run over.
Authorities say the violence followed an outing with acquaintances after one of the women involved arranged to have a check cashed. Two women, LaFonda Fay Foster and Tina Marie Powell, were later arrested after hospital staff noticed bloodstains on their clothing and unusual behavior while they sought a taxi; a police officer at the hospital took them into custody for public intoxication and investigators subsequently tied them to the murders.
What details about the victims involvement that day remain unclear?
