On November 23, 1981, four-year-old James Allen Lloyd of Shadow Creek, Kentucky, was fatally shot in his bathtub. James, described as having an intellectual disability, was killed by his mother, Caroline Lloyd, who took him to the bathtub and shot him after worrying his disability might prevent him from attending kindergarten. Law enforcement investigated and arrested Caroline Lloyd; she was later tried and convicted for the murder of her son. The community was left reeling by a parent killing a young child in what had been a private home.
Did anyone in Shadow Creek at the time have information about James’s household, his schooling plans, or what led up to that November day?
