Thank you to the people that have commented on this page. I am Tyler's mooma (that's what he called me.) I advocated from the beginning for Hunter because I knew my son would not want his life ruined beyond what would come after prison. Hunter told us the story from that night and it was an accidental shooting that killed my son instantly. I was assured by the sheriff, mortician, and the funeral director that he felt no pain. I don't know what or if the community does anything in his honor, but my family planted a tree and we hang charms from it in his memory. He was everything you about him plus more. It has been 3 1/2 years and I still feel pain as if it was yesterday. If I can answer any questions please ask and I'll answer to my best ability
Tyler Lowrence was 22 when he was shot and killed at his Yew Street home in Ellensburg, Washington, on the night of July 25, 2022. Described as White/Caucasian, he had moved to Ellensburg earlier that year, worked as a line cook and pursued artistic interests. He was living with his boyfriend, Hunter Rodgers.
Police were dispatched to the residence around 10 p.m. after a report of a shooting and found Lowrence deceased from a gunshot wound. The Ellensburg Police Department opened an investigation and detectives arrested 23-year-old Hunter Rodgers; he faced a recommended charge of first-degree manslaughter. Court filings later show Rodgers pleaded guilty to attempted manslaughter in the second degree and received 15.75 months of confinement.
Did anyone in the Ellensburg area know Tyler, where he worked, or have information about that night that could help clarify what happened?
