Thomas Montaos Lorezca, 40, was killed on May 23, 2022, while working a plumbing call in Spanaway, Washington. A lifelong Kent resident, Lorezca had worked 16 years as a plumber for Beacon Plumbing and was in the driveway of a Military Road East home when the homeowner, 55-year-old Jacques Noel Dothard, confronted him over an alleged gate strike. Surveillance footage shows Dothard approach Lorezca’s truck and fire multiple times into the driver’s seat; Lorezca died at the scene. His miniature husky, Alpine, was in the vehicle at the time.
Pierce County deputies arrested Dothard at the scene. Searches of his and a neighbor’s homes later turned up numerous firearms and ammunition, including a 9 mm handgun and a rifle. Dothard was initially charged with first-degree murder and unlawful possession of firearms; charges were later amended to second-degree murder and one count of unlawful possession, to which he pleaded guilty. At sentencing he received 21 years in prison. Lorezca’s family and employer remembered him as a devoted son and a key trainer and mentor at Beacon Plumbing.
If anyone knew Thomas, his routines, or saw activity around the Military Road East address that day, please share what you know.
