Annabelle Hichens, 33, of Renton, was found dead on April 11, 2022, in the backseat of a red Jeep Wrangler on Day Island Boulevard in University Place, Washington. Emergency responders discovered she had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head; the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death a homicide.

Investigators tied the case to 27-year-old Marcus Riley Langford. The Jeep was a rental connected to prior criminal activity, and a receipt found in the vehicle bore a name Langford used on his Facebook page. Surveillance footage captured a man believed to be Langford exiting the Jeep, wiping it down, and fleeing the scene. A witness told detectives Langford was angry with Hichens and her boyfriend, believing they had set him up to be robbed, and that anger was offered as a possible motive.

Anyone with information about Annabelle, the red Jeep, or the events on Day Island Boulevard on April 11, 2022, is asked to come forward.
