In the early morning hours of February 3, 2018, a domestic dispute in Longbranch, Washington, ended with two deaths. Lukas Slawson, 35, and his 25-year-old wife, Beth Hamlin-Slawson, were found shot to death in the driveway of her mother’s home on Whiteman Road after a heated argument about the sale of a handgun and allegations involving Cory Nathan Mason, 27, who was dating Beth’s younger sister and living at the residence.

Both Slawson and Mason reportedly fired weapons during the confrontation. The couple’s two-year-old son was in their vehicle at the time but was unharmed. Deputies arrested Mason shortly after the shooting; he placed a 911 call saying he had shot the couple in self-defense and was charged with two counts of second-degree murder with bail set at $2 million.

Prosecutors later reviewed evidence including distorted surveillance video that showed Lukas Slawson pointing a gun at Mason. Based on the totality of the evidence, they concluded they could not disprove Mason’s claim of self-defense and dropped the murder charges, leading to Mason’s release in April 2019.

If anyone knew Lukas, Beth, or was in the Longbranch area that night, does anything about the timeline or the people involved still need clarification?
