On the morning of January 28, 2018, a Honda Civic was found crashed into a hedge near the Lifestream Worship Center in Renton, Washington. The driver, 29-year-old Asian man Anh Phuc Phung, was initially thought to have been injured in the collision, but was later determined to have died of a single gunshot wound to the torso. Investigators noted a bullet hole concealed by his arm and blood under the driver’s seat, and linked the scene to reports of gunfire late the previous night in the rear parking lot of Renton High School about 250 yards away.

Detectives recovered two .40-caliber shell casings near the high school and found messages on Phung’s phone arranging a marijuana deal just before the shooting. Evidence suggested Phung was shot at close range while seated in his car and then attempted to drive away before crashing. On February 1, 2018, police arrested 19-year-old Dyonte Jackson and 17-year-old Elijah Whaley in South Seattle; both were charged with first-degree murder, with Whaley charged as an adult. Investigators indicated the person who fired the fatal shot may still have been at large.

Does anyone have information about Phung’s movements that night or about the Renton High School parking lot incident?
