Francisco Mendoza, a 29-year-old Hispanic man, was shot dead in his rented room in Kirkland, Washington, on the evening of May 7, 2016. Neighbors reported hearing gunfire and seeing a white pickup speed away. Officers found Mendoza with multiple gunshot wounds, including two close-range shots to the head; he was taken to Harborview Medical Center and pronounced dead.
Investigators say evidence at the scene included five shell casings, witness statements, and surveillance footage. Prosecutors identified a suspect, Juan Felipe Galeana-Madrigal, also known by the street name Pelon, and allege Mendoza had been selling heroin and methamphetamine supplied by Galeana-Madrigal, owed him money, and was suspected of cooperating with a federal narcotics probe. A warrant for first-degree murder was issued for Galeana-Madrigal in January 2017.
Galeana-Madrigal is described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 5 inches, about 130 pounds, with a Familia tattoo on the right side of his head; he has known ties to Southern California and was reportedly last seen in the Palm Desert area in September 2016. The case remained in warrant status as of early 2025. If anyone knew Mendoza, his movements that night, or has information on Galeana-Madrigal’s whereabouts, please come forward.
