On August 15, 2015, 18-year-old Alatino Bolden was fatally shot at his home in the 14900 block of 12th Avenue East in Spanaway, Washington. Bolden, known as Lorenzo, was with a group of five friends when his best friend, 18-year-old Isaac Nettles, reportedly was showing off a .38-caliber revolver he had recently bought for $50. Nettles believed he had unloaded the gun and was horsing around when a single bullet that remained lodged in the chamber discharged and struck Bolden in the head. Family members on scene performed CPR; Bolden later died at a hospital.

Authorities arrested Nettles and charged him in connection with the shooting. Bolden’s family described him as joyful and outgoing, a recent Spanaway Lake High School graduate who planned to attend Pierce College and hoped to play basketball. Those who knew him said he and Nettles were like brothers. Does anyone have memories of Lorenzo or information about that afternoon that could help clarify what happened?
