Jamar Bovan, a 39-year-old Black man, was last seen alive on July 2, 2015. On July 6 a Renton parking enforcement officer noticed an unusual odor coming from a green Dodge Caravan parked on the shoulder of Victoria Avenue Southwest; inside, authorities found Bovan’s body, severely decomposed. The King County Medical Examiner determined he died on June 29, 2015, from multiple gunshot wounds and ruled the death a homicide.
Investigators believe the shooting occurred at a different location and that the van was moved to where it was found. Detectives recovered female DNA inside the vehicle, but it has not produced a match. No arrests have been announced and the Renton Police Department’s investigation remains open.
Anyone with information about the circumstances of Jamar Bovan’s death is asked to contact Renton investigators.
